Breathers [Mar. 21st, 2010|05:10 pm]
The Zombie Society

[mood |amusedamused]
[music |Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars]

This week I have been mostly reading: Breathers by S.G. Browne

Its a fun yarn told from a zombie perspective and is set in a world where zombies have only recently started re-animating. The zombies here are:

a) conscious, relatively articulate beings
b) stripped of any rights of citizenship and are generally persecuted by the public (and)
c) havent discovered the delights of eating human flesh... yet!

Ooh. That sounds like an interesting one. A bit reminiscent of the movie Fido, actually, in that zombies are accepted somewhat as part of society.

I love Fido and shared it with friends recently who were very quickly won over. The zombies here though are articulate so its much closer to the film 'American Zombie' (about zombies who organise their own affirmative action group in the face of public hostility - its very good)
